Opera Report: Ukrainians Rarely Search on Mobile Internet

Opera has published a statistical report saying Google leads the US mobile market.

Per the Opera State of the Mobile Web Report, Google owns over 9% of all mobile internet page views, with competitors Yahoo! and Bing at 4.3% and 0.03% respectively.

The Opera State of the Mobile Web Report tracks the biggest mobile internet trends and is published monthly. The report also includes worldwide statistics, including the Middle East.

The report’s authors highlighted these mobile search specifics:

  • In Ukraine, Opera Mini users used mobile search the least: search resources — 0.8% of all page views, 6.1 pages viewed per month (average).
  • The biggest visitors to search portals were users from India and Vietnam. For Vietnam, search portals account for 30.9% of all page views; each Opera Mini user views an average of 63.6 pages per month. India’s figures: 22.1% of views for search engines and 75.8 pages per month per average user.

Among global mobile internet trends:

  • In January 2010, Opera Mini users viewed about 23.3 billion pages. Versus December that’s a 12.7% increase. Versus January 2009, views grew 208%.
  • In January 2010, 50 million people used Opera Mini — 7.4% more than December 2009 and 149% more than January 2009.
  • Top-10 Opera Mini countries in January 2010: Russia, Indonesia, India, Ukraine, China, South Africa, USA, Nigeria, Vietnam, UK.
