New Google Apps: Google Shopper and Google Shopping

Google released two new user apps: Google Shopper and Google Shopping. Google Shopper is a mobile app for Android phones — a new product from Google.

Using your phone camera, you can find detailed info about various products and items (Google Shopper recognises CDs, DVDs, video games, product barcodes, book covers). Google Shopper’s visual search is supplemented by a voice search option. Any product info, reviews, price comparisons — Shopper provides it all. You can also share found information with friends. Search history is saved, letting you return to a product description anytime, even when offline.

Meanwhile, Russian Google launched a Google Shopping service. With this tool, users can now search directly through Google for commercial offers and products including prices. According to Google’s PR service, the Shopping service is launching first in Russia, since it was developed by Google’s Moscow office engineers. Google Shopping has certain similarities to Yandex.Market, but Yandex’s service works with online stores and trading companies. Google works differently: it searches offers in online stores and extracts price and product photo information from them.

Google searches over 100,000 online stores across Russia for products and offers. To use the service, select “Shopping” in Settings on the search results page. You can configure a price range.
